On the morning of Grace Lin's visit, we had Spanish. We hopped in our airplanes and flew to Mexico. There, Alicia shared the Spanish words for the zoo animals we are studying. She made cards with their pictures, and names written in English and Spanish. After Spanish, we played the Cup Challenge game. Once friends conquered the challenges of the game, we listened to a couple of research reports, and then went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and eat snack.
The Cup Challenge game! Friends kept still, seeing how long they could keep their cup on their head. Once friends practiced independently, they were placed into groups to see how long they could sit still without letting the cup drop.
Fact: A herd of elephants is called a memory.
Fact: The hummingbird can fly backwards.
Grace Lin! We got the chance to meet an author and illustrator! She read us a book, and shared stories from her childhood. Not to forget, she drew us some pretty awesome pictures!
Ask your Owl what they enjoyed most about the Grace Lin visit.
