The Owl's morning started off with our Literacy Workshop. Friends sang the song about starting at the top as well as the Hockey-pokey.
After our songs, the Owls worked in pairs to see how many of the letters of the alphabet they could form using their curves and lines.
Throughout this activity, friends could be heard saying "LOOK ITS AN 'O'!" or "I HAVE THAT LETTER IN MY NAME!"
After the Owls formed most of the letters from the alphabet, we cleaned up and met back on the rug. Danielle read us the story, "The Three Billy Goat Gruffs." Friends enjoyed this book, especially the part when the Troll fell in the water!
After the story friends, put on their coats and boots and headed out on a leaf hunt.
Some friends collected yellow leaves,
others red and brown.
Some of the leaves were bigger than our heads!
Friends especially enjoyed throwing the leaves, not only in the air but also at their teachers!
Once we collected all of our leaves, we headed back inside!
The Owls finished up their morning with Choice Time. Friends were able to choose between magnatiles, books, dramatic play and watercolors.
Friends used red, orange, brown and yellow watercolor to paint paper so that it looks like the leaves we collected throughout our adventure. Stay tuned to see what friends end up creating with our watercolor art!
Ask your Owl if they remember the characters from, "The Three Billy Goat Gruff" book!
