The Owls morning began with Morning Meeting and a Moment of Silence. During our Moment of Silence, friends listened to the rain stick. All of the Owls agreed that it sounded like it was raining inside our classroom.
Next, Danielle and two friends presented their reports. Danielle's report was on the Trombone. One of the facts that friends learned was that when a Trombone is stretched all the way out, it measures about 9 feet. Danielle explained that this would be the length of one Danielle and an Owl. Friends all thought that this was super big!
Our next friend did his report on a cello. Friends learned that a cello is bigger than a Violin!
Friends listened to the cello and pretended that they were playing it.
Our last friend did his report on the piano. Friends thought that it was very interesting to learn that there are 88 keys on a piano.
After our presentations, friends headed to the library. Doris read us two stories; one was "I am not getting up today" By Dr. Seuss, and the second book was called "Press Here" written by Herve Tullet. Friends gave both these books two thumbs up!
To finish up our morning, friends went on a letter hunt around our classroom. The Owls split into 5 teams of 3, a blue team, green team, red team, yellow team, and the purple team. Friends then searched the room looking for letters that were the same color as their team name. Once friends found a letter, they crossed it off their list.
The Owls did a great job not only as working as a team but finding and identifying the different letters of the alphabet. Once the Owls finished their letter search, friends met on the rug to read the book, "OH NO!" Then they headed off to enjoy their lunches. Ask your Owl if they remember what team they were on for the letter search.
