The Owl's started their morning off with Alicia in Spanish class. Each week, friends get to choose which Spanish speaking country they would like to fly to.
This week friends chose to fly to Spain. So the Owls hopped on their plane and flew all the way to Spain.
Once friends arrived in Spain, they learned how to greet one another. Alicia bought out her special Spanish speaking dog named Perrito. Perrito would greet the Owls, and they would answer back in Spanish. Ask your Owl to see if they remember how to say boy and girl in spanish.
After Spanish class friends, had a Moment of Silence and Morning Meeting.
This week, friends started taking turns to read our Daily Schedule and the results of our Question of the Day. This process gives friends the opportunity to sound out our different activities. It also familiarizes friends with the idea that spoken words can also be written down. Reading the results of the question of the day helps friends with one to one correspondence (by counting each vote) and comparing numbers (which column has the most votes and which has the least). Friends take great pride in knowing that their votes count!
Before heading to snack, friends rolled a die, and they needed to count up the number of dots and give the total. The Owl's loved the challenge and got very excited when they answered.
After snack, friends were split into two groups. Some of the Owls went with Samantha to the Catbird classroom for choice time, and the other half of the Catbirds came into the Owls room to play with the other half of the Owls. After a half hour, friends switched and went to the opposite classroom. Friends were able to explore new activities and new relationships which made for a very joyful Choice Time.
Some friends went for the ooey gooey activity, flubber.
Some chose the Dramatic Play Areas.
Some friends became engineers building with gears.
Others helped feed Princess Froggy and Popcorn, the Catbirds' guinea pigs.
Other friends played at the Catbirds sensory table which was filled with colorful rice.
Some friends became carpenters - drilling, screwing and building.
At one point, there was band that played beautiful music while everyone explored the rooms.
This was a HUGE hit with both the Catbirds and the Owls. During appreciation circle, the Owls said they appreciated playing with the Catbirds! Ask your Owl what their favorite part of Choice Time was.
