The Owl's started their morning off in Spanish with Alicia. Alicia has been working with friends on the Spanish translations of modes of transportation as well as the different zoo animals. Ask your Owl if they remember how to say airplane in Espanol.
After Spanish Class, friends read the story called Chrysanthemum. This story is about a little mouse who was named after a flower and got teased at school because of her name. But in the end, her classmates ended up liking that she was named Chrysanthemum, so they all changed their names to flower names to match hers. The Owls were asked if they could change their name to a flower name, what would they choose? Here are some of our new flower names...
"Daffodil"
"Lily"
"Rose"
"Sunflower"
"Tulip"
"Orange Gerber Daisy"
"Honeysuckle"
"Daisy"
"Petunia"
Ask your Owl if they remember what their flower name would be.
During Morning Meeting, friends picked the seeds that they would like to plant in our garden beds. Friends decided that one of our garden beds should be filled with all vegetables and the other bed should be just flowers! Friends really liked this idea because..."This way we don't get confused and end up eating a flower!" Friends chose to plant carrots, cucumbers, watermelons, and peppers for their vegetables and Nasturtiums, Zinnias, Lupines, Petunias and Chrysanthemums for our flowers.
Each friend picked a vegetable or a flower and drew the picture of what they picked on a garden marker, so we remember what we planted and where we planted it.
Once all of our pictures were drawn, we headed outside to plant our seeds. Friends helped till the soil and dig the holes for the seeds. After each seed was planted, friends helped place our markers by each veggie or plant. Then they watered them.
Friends finished up their morning with outside Choice Time and a fun game of Hide and Go Seek!
