The Owls gathered this morning to experiment with colors. Each Owl put on their scientist hat and got to work. First, we discussed the primary colors, red, yellow, and blue. Friends made predictions about what may happen if we mixed certain colors together. Let's see what happened!
If you mix yellow...
...with blue...
...you get green.
Yellow + Blue = Green
If you mix red with blue, you get purple!
Red + Blue = Purple
Yellow + Red = Orange
The Owls thought it would be interesting to see what would happen if we mixed all of the primary colors, and colors we created together.
What happened?
It turned brown.
A friend brought in a special item to share with the class. A Hummingbird feeder!
Along with the feeder was food, which is made of sugar and water.
Tomorrow, we will find a nice space outside to place the Hummingbird feeder.
After mixing colors as a group, friends had the chance to experiment with mixing colors on their own.
Friends created beautiful colors to paint with.
While friends took turns at the color mixing table, other choices were available. Friends had the choices of trains, blocks, animals, and of course, books and puzzles.
The Owls worked together to build and create a giant structure. Friends paid attention to detail and design.
To switch up our read aloud, we took out the overhead projector. Instead of looking at the pictures in the book, we created scenes on the projector to cast the characters and scenes.
Can you guess what book we read?
Ask your Owl what two colors together make green.
