Pumpkins Pumpkins Everywhere!

The Owls started their morning off with Morning Meeting and a Moment of Silence. After Morning Meeting friends put on their detective caps to help examine our pumpkins. After each friend closely examined a pumpkin, we went around the room and asked friends to describe what they noticed about the pumpkins. Here are some thoughts that our friends observed.

"It has a top and it is very heavy"
"It is orange and round"
"It has a stem"
"It's very bumpy"
"This one is smooth"
"It's kinda juicy"
"Pumpkins are heavy and have small bumps"
"It has a yellowy stem on it"
"Its cold"
"It's a hard pumpkin"
"It has green stems"
"Some don't have stems"
"This is a circle"
"Very small"
"The stem is hard and soft"
"It's orange"

The Owls also learned a poem about five little pumpkins sitting on a gate. See if your Owl remembers the words to the poem.

We then took off our detective caps and headed off to Choice Time.  Friends were able to choose between the Dramatic Play area, magnatiles, puzzles, and drawing. Throughout Choice Time, each friend was asked to go back into the Art Studio to complete an Observational Drawing of a pumpkin.

Once Choice Time was finished, Samantha read friends the book, "It's Pumpkin Time" written by Zoe Hall. This book helps teach friends about the different growth stages of a pumpkin. See if your Owl remembers one of the three colors that the pumpkin changes throughout its growth.  Friends then finished their day by heading outside to enjoy the beautiful day!
