Patterns!

The Owl's morning began with Meeting for Worship. Danielle read friends the book A Quiet Place written by Douglas Wood. Friends were asked to close their eyes and imagine a place where they could go to rest quietly to collect their thoughts. Many of the Owls chose their rooms and outside.

After Meeting for Worship, friends had Morning Meeting where Samantha and Danielle introduced the topic of patterns to friends, which lead us into our Math Workshop. Friends rotated between five different activities involving patterns.

For the first activity, friends were asked to create a pattern using the markers to color in the different boxes.

For the second activity, friends used large colored pieces of paper to create simple patterns.

Friends created patterns using the unifex cubes in the third activity.

This pattern was so long! We needed to open our classroom door for more space!

And for the last activity, friends used different colored shapes to create a pattern.

When friends were all patterned out ,we had Choice Time. Friends were able to choose between blocks, drawing, books and dramatic play.

The Owls finished up their morning by heading outside to enjoy our beautiful snow covered playground. The Owls enjoyed going outside to breath in the fresh air and to get some of our energy out. We are asking that you please send your Owl to school each day with a winter coat, gloves, hats, snow pants, and snow boots. Please make sure each item is clearly labeled with your Owls name!
Ask your Owl to create a pattern using objects in your house!
