Today was an extra special friday because the Owls had Art Class. We learned about Vincent van Gogh. Amanda told us that he liked to paint flowers. So, we had the chance to paint some sunflowers of our own.
Back in the classroom, we took off our artist hats and put on our scientist hats. Friends tested their hypothesis'. No longer were the water balloons filled with water, they were filled with ice! The liquid had turned into a solid.
Next, we cut open one of the balloons, only to find a ball of ice.
We sprinkled salt onto the ice, and watched to see what would happen next. It started to melt!
Friends used hammers to break up the frozen balls of ice.
To go along with the chapter book we are reading, Mr. Popper's Penguins, friends made self-portrait penguins.
Ask your Owl what the liquid turned into.
